Empower Wednesday for International Talents

The Empower Wednesday program is designed for international talents in Turku. The aim is to support them in their integration process and provide key information to facilitate their working life in Finland.  

Local organizations active in the field of employability skills have put their expertise together to create a new intensive program for international talents. The program will run from September to December 2020, with events taking place on Wednesday afternoons. All events will be held online and in English. 

We welcome all international talents wishing to know more about topics such as Finnish work culture, opening a business and tips for job searching. We also offer networking, peer support and inspirational success stories.  

Events are free of charge but registration is required to each event to obtain the meeting link. You can attend all the sessions or choose the ones you are interested in.

Success stories of International talents 

Two international talents tell their stories. Useful tips and suggestions for your job hunting path.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗦𝗸𝘂𝗹𝘁 is the CEO & Creative Director of MiTale, a game development company from Finland focusing on narrative-driven experiences in mixed reality and gamification. She is an active member of the Finnish and international games industry as a Board Member of IGDA.org and Chairperson of IGDA Finland. She is also one of the founders and elected Chairperson of The Hive – Turku Game Hub (game business center in South-West Finland). Besides industry work, she is active in academic research and teaches courses in game design and game (digital) art production at the University of Turku.

𝗠𝗲𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝘀𝘄𝗮𝗺𝗶, originally from India, came to Finland exactly two years ago to pursue a Master’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology and Diagnostics at the University of Turku. She chose Finland as her study destination for its famous education system, work-life balance, and a generous scholarship. Already during her studies, she managed to secure a traineeship position at ArcDia International, a Turku based In-vitro diagnostics company, that later led to a full-time job. Megha works in research and development at ArcDia, the proprietor of mariPOC, a high-tech rapid test technology for respiratory virus diagnostics. She thinks that the challenging nature of her work in research and development in this difficult time motivates her. During her free time, Megha is passionate about food, exercising, socializing, and working on her new food blog.
