The Koronavilkku tracing app – Now available in English

Koronavilkku is a contact tracing app produced by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) to help you find out whether you may have been exposed to the coronavirus. The app helps to quickly trace those exposed to Covid-19 while keeping your personal data safe.

A recent update added English as one of the available languages, making the app significantly easier to use for people who do not speak Finnish or Swedish.

Koronavilkku has proven popular since its release, as it has already been downloaded by over 40 percent of the people living in Finland.

Recommendations on Masks and Practical Instructions:

Southwest Finland is currently recommending the use of masks in situations where social distancing measures cannot be reliably enforced. The National Institute of Health and Welfare has issued a checklist on how to properly use masks, which you can find by clicking here. In short, it’s a good idea to wear a mask in every situation that involves more than a few people and is located indoors.

We adhere to the regional recommendations in our events, which means masks are highly recommended when attending physically.

Some confusion may arise in situations where refreshments are served and masks are involved. In these situations, the proper procedure is to remove your mask, enjoy the refreshments from a safe distance from other attendees, and use a new mask afterwards.

Please note that upon removing a mask, it should be placed in a bin if disposable or a plastic bag upon your person if reusable. Once removed, the same mask should not be used again until after it’s been washed. This is why it is recommended to carry extra masks with you when attending events.
